Permaculture meal: potato and celeriac tart

As some of my colleague at Brighton Permaculture Trust know, I keep harping on about meeting more often.  Not in meetings.  But just to meet, chat, find out what projects people are up to and hang out.  There are some great people in the organisation and I wouldn’t mind spending time with them.  Some time … Continue reading

Permaculture Design: St Margaret’s Lee School

Three weeks ago, I went to go and visit a school in London.  I had been asked to come and give them some advice and do a permaculture design to grow more food in the school grounds.  I went up one afternoon with the aim to do some initial surveying and to have the initial … Continue reading

Reflecting on Permaculture Design Using The Four Questions

This weekend I just taught a session about using the four questions in groups, and in particular between days on a long permaculture design course.  So I’m sharing it with you too. Permaculture design draws heavily on action learning, the four questions are a useful reflection/evaluation tool as part of this process.  They can be … Continue reading

My first permaculture diploma induction event

Yesterday, my adventures as a permaculture diploma tutor, really began with my first induction event.  An induction event is your first tutorial between an apprentice and a tutor.  It is where you meet to discuss your first project or two.  I suggest that apprentices design their diploma as their first project.  So you can end … Continue reading

Permaculture Design Course: first day

The day before our Permaculture Design Course started we decided to change venues.  We like to live on the edge here at Brighton Permaculture Trust.  We had 22 participants, 5 tutors and 1 support person to co-ordinate plus a few others.  Somehow we managed to start just about on time, with only one person at … Continue reading
